I purchased the Lowepro Rezo 170 AW Shoulder
Bag because it is fairly small (which is relative of course)
and light (also relative). I've owned Canon and Tamrac bags before
and thought I would try a Lowepro this time.
The photo gear I wanted to pack in the bag, at the time of the
Lowepro Rezo 170 AW Shoulder Bag purchase, included a Digital
Rebel XT, EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM,
EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, flash cards, spare battery, battery
charger, lens brush/blower , pen, pencil, notepad and, of course,
the Digital Rebel XT user manual. |

| Using Lowepro's Rezo 170 AW Shoulder Bag |
I've finally figured out what the 'AW' in Lowepro's Rezo 170 AW stood
for: All Weather. Now what makes this an all weather bag? The bag
did not come with any instructions so I just assumed that since this
was an in store purchase, the instructions may have been lifted.
As
with any purchase, I sometimes do a thorough inspection, especially
when a product doesn't include instructions. At the bottom of the
bag, underneath the front accessory pocket, there is another pocket
with a Velcro closure that stores the All Weather cover. I'm assuming
that the All Weather cover is placed over the bag as shown in photos
on the left. |
Inside the Lowepro Rezo 170 AW Shoulder Bag main compartment are
two padded dividers that separates it into 3 sub compartments.
For my use, I will have a lens in each side compartment and my
Digital Rebel XT, with lens attached, occupying the center compartment.
On one side of the compartment (if you're looking down into the
compartment from the front of the bag, it would be on the right
side) there is a nylon open laced expandable pocket. With a lens
occupying that compartment, in my case, it's impossible to store
anything in it.
I'm pretty sure someone else will find some use for it.
In the middle of the interior lid, there's a padded memory card
pouch that
opens and close via velcro. There are four pockets that will hold
a compact flash card in each with room for a few business cards. |
Permanently stitched to one side of the main compartment is a micro
fiber cloth for cleaning the delicate LCD screens and provide
protection against scratches from camera straps.
I sort of wish that this cloth was removable so that after a period of
time, you can wash it (but that's just me). |
The zippered accessory pocket in the front of the bag is accessible
by lifting the padded lid which is locked with a nylon buckle.
The zippered pocket lid itself stores the All Weather cover (adds
additional padding) which is accessible from the bottom of the
bag.
Inside the accessory pocket are three more pockets. Two are open laced
and one is nylon fabric. Why the nylon fabric one, I haven't a clue at
this moment. |
|
The exterior side pocket on the Lowepro Rezo 170 AW Shoulder Bag
is a nice feature because you can store items in it which need
to be readily accessible. I only wish it was large enough for the
Digital Rebel XT user manual. |
|
The attachment loops on the opposite side of the side pocket are
designed to accept pouches or other SlipLock compatible
products. The photo on the left shows a Tamrac lens case attached
to the loop. Since it is not a SlipLock compatible product,
it was a nightmare installing it because the strap on the lens
case is wider than what the attachment loop could accommodate. |
| Conclusion |
The Lowepro Rezo 170 AW Shoulder Bag is a high quality product,
compared to what I had before. It is durable and provides adaquate
protection for my camera gear. The zippers on the main compartment
lid and accessory pocket work smoothly and without a hitch. The
attachment loop increases the expandability of the bag and with
several pockets, it makes it easy to keep items organized in the
bag.
